Councillors Investigate £1bn Housing Loans Made Under Burnham

Wikimedia Commons

Councillors are investigating more than £1bn in loans made to about 50 property developers from a regional fund while Andy Burnham was Greater Manchester mayor. Scrutiny chair John Leech said the approval process had been criticised as opaque. Three firms controlled by Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour received about £55m in 2017 at meetings Burnham chaired, though all combined authority members took those decisions together.
