Microsoft has pulled out of a deal to be the main customer at Nscale's planned AI datacentre in Loughton, Essex, over worries about power supply. Ministers hailed the site as Britain's largest sovereign AI datacentre when it was announced in 2025. Nscale, backed by Nvidia, says it remains committed to the project and is exploring other power sources. Microsoft stays involved in its Norway project.
