Met Office uses Aberystwyth researchers to improve space weather forecasts

Space weather, mainly from solar activity like flares, can seriously affect GPS, power grids, and satellites on Earth. The Met Office space weather team works 24/7, trying to predict events up to three days before they hit Earth. Aberystwyth University is leading a research project to give better warnings, giving infrastructure operators more time to act.
