Merz says Putin is making Ukraine war worse

Russia's current heavy attacks on Ukraine suggest the war is escalating, despite President Putin's earlier claim it was ending. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Thursday that Moscow is banking on worsening the conflict, not seeking negotiations. Kyiv bore the brunt of these almost continuous heavy attacks, resulting in at least 16 deaths, including two children.
