Mango season is big business for Yorkshire's South Asian communities

The yearly mango season is a significant trading period for many retailers across Yorkshire, driving people to buy whole boxes. Much of this demand comes from cultural memory and family heritage, especially for Indian and Pakistani varieties. The UK imported nearly 87,000 tonnes of mangoes and similar fruits in 2024, valued at around £223 million.
