The £2,000 payment reducing care leaver homelessness, arrests
Care leavers receiving a one-off payment were less likely to be homeless, arrested, or hospitalised, a study found. They also reported higher optimism and better ability to manage life problems. Researchers from King's College London, with UK government funding, gave £2,000 to 100 care leavers aged 18-25 from June 2023. This project involved 302 participants from nine English local authorities, tracked for up to 12 months.
