Senator Gallego urges national strike if Trump interferes in midterms
Arizona Democrat Ruben Gallego warned that the public should be ready to mount a nationwide work stoppage if Donald Trump seeks to meddle with November’s midterm vote. Reacting to remarks about centralising election control, the senator said defending democracy could require shutting down economic activity. He suggested essential staff, from airline crews to classroom teachers, should stay away from work should any attempt be made to distort the count, arguing collective action may be the only effective safeguard available nationwide.
