London neighbourhood crime falls 14% as Mayor Khan rejects 'dystopian' claims

Neighbourhood crime across London dropped by 14% in the year up to June, with around 35,000 fewer offences recorded overall. Mayor Sadiq Khan hit back at online narratives calling the capital a "dystopian hellhole", insisting that London is getting safer. The Met Police reported 13,000 fewer thefts, including a halving of phone thefts in the West End.
