London homicides fall to record low in 2025

London recorded 97 homicides in 2025, an 11 percent decrease from 109 in 2024 and the lowest number since 2014. This represents the capital's lowest murder rate since records began in 1997. Teenage homicides fell to just eight victims, a 73 percent reduction since 2021. The Metropolitan Police attributes the decline to intensive operations against gangs and violent criminals, while London's Violence Reduction Unit has delivered over 550,000 interventions to prevent youth involvement in crime.
