Lifeboat crews hit with radio threats after Gosport landing

Lifeboat crews hit with radio threats after Gosport landing

Wikimedia Commons

Police are investigating threats of physical harm made against RNLI volunteers and the Coastguard over an open VHF shipping channel. Four suspicious messages were broadcast on Sunday night and Monday, after almost 150 migrants were brought ashore in Gosport. Rescue groups called the threats abhorrent and disgusting. The matter has been referred to regulator Ofcom, and crews insist they will keep answering calls at sea.
