Labour's PIP review draws criticism for easing disability benefit claims

A Labour review is considering making Personal Independence Payment (PIP) easier to claim, with a "light-touch" initial assessment and more digital services. Helen Whately, the Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, voiced criticism of the proposals, stating they would neither address abuse nor generate savings. The review, led by Sir Stephen Timms, is expected to publish its final recommendations later this autumn.
