Labour minister calls for significant changes to youth benefits
A Labour minister says the welfare system needs significant changes to help more young people into jobs. Pat McFadden, the work and pensions secretary, described efforts to prevent young people from becoming stuck on disability benefits as a "moral crusade". A million young people are out of work, and disability benefit claims for 16- to 24-year-olds have tripled since 2019.
