Trump weighs paying Greenlanders up to $100000 to join US

The Trump administration is considering offering lump sum payments of between $10,000 and $100,000 to each Greenland resident to convince them to secede from Denmark and potentially join the United States. The proposal involves approximately 57,000 residents, which could cost up to $5.7 billion if maximum payments were made. Trump claims Greenland is strategically vital for national security against Russian and Chinese influence in the Arctic region. However, Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has firmly rejected these proposals, stating Greenland is not for sale.
