Dartford Warbler Numbers Rise After Near Loss
Wildlife groups say the bird is now being seen more widely on southern England heathland after years of decline. A new survey found 264 pairs on RSPB reserves in 2025, up 44% in five years, with conservation work linked to the recovery. Around 4,100 pairs are now estimated across the UK, while 80% of lowland heathland has disappeared since the 1800s.
