Strawberries, Ice Cream Bring Relief to UK Food Bills
Shoppers could see some relief as food price rises slowed while retailers kept offering seasonal discounts. British Retail Consortium figures released on Tuesday showed food inflation eased to 2.4% in June, with overall shop price inflation unchanged at 1.2% from May. Fresh food inflation dropped to 2.8%, helped by strong strawberry harvests and ice cream promotions during unusually hot weather.
