Your delayed emotional texts aren't uncaring, says research
Psychology suggests someone who replies to a casual text instantly but delays an emotional one isn't necessarily inconsistent or unkind. Low-stakes messages often run on habit and require little thought, but vulnerable ones necessitate empathy, reflection, and carry the risk of saying the wrong thing. The delay might mean the person recognises the message's importance and is trying to craft a thoughtful response.
