Iran arrests 239 citizens in fresh security crackdown
Iranian authorities have detained at least 239 people in a sweeping new wave of arrests across the country's western provinces. Citizens in Kurdistan and Kermanshah have been picked up on charges including alleged affiliation with opposition groups, with property confiscations and disciplinary actions against students also reported. The detentions follow January's nationwide protests and show Tehran tightening its grip during the ongoing war with the US and Israel.
