New EU rules make it easier to repair broken products

New EU rules are now in force to encourage people to repair household and electronic items instead of replacing them. Manufacturers are now obliged to mend particular items without charge or for a fair fee, and to supply replacement components. The rules aim to reduce the 35 million tonnes of waste generated by prematurely disposing of goods across the bloc.
