Just 8,383 graduate jobs were advertised across the UK in July, down 45% in a year and the lowest since Adzuna began tracking in 2016. The figures land as a record 262,820 students prepare to start university, with employers blaming hiring costs and AI. One expert cautions the fall may partly reflect fewer roles labelled graduate, calling the market weak but not collapsed.
