John Prescott's son David joins the Green Party

David Prescott, son of the late former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, has left the Labour Party and joined the Green Party of England and Wales. The move is a notable switch given his family's deep ties to Labour, where his father served as Deputy Prime Minister from 1997 to 2007. The Greens have seen a significant rise in membership and defections from Labour in recent months, surpassing 200,000 members in early March 2026.
