Japan calls Hormuz warship deployment threshold extremely high.
Japan has reacted cautiously after Donald Trump urged allies to send naval forces to secure the Strait of Hormuz. Officials linked to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said the legal and political threshold for deploying Japanese warships is “extremely high”. Tokyo relies heavily on Middle Eastern oil, but its pacifist constitution limits overseas military action, making any potential naval deployment highly sensitive.
