43% Britons want UK less close to US

Public support for close UK ties with the US is weakening as opinion shifts. A YouGov poll found 43% think Britain is too close to Washington and should move nearer to the European Union, while only 18% favour stronger links with America. About six in ten said the special relationship existed in the past, with just 14% believing it still exists.
