UNICEF warns of alarming rise in AI child deepfakes
UNICEF has raised serious concerns about the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create explicit images involving children. Research conducted in 11 countries found that images of more than a million minors have been digitally altered to produce deepfake content. The organisation says such material should be treated as child sexual abuse imagery. It is urging governments to strengthen laws and calling on tech firms to introduce tougher protections to stop children being exploited online.
