Israel to close UK consulate over settlement sanctions
Israel will close Britain's consulate in East Jerusalem after twelve countries including the UK, France and Canada banned trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar called the sanctions scandalous and also barred Britain from the American-led Gaza coordination mission. Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said the UK refused to be a bystander to what it calls ethnic cleansing.
