Mark Wood out of Ashes series with injury
England fast bowler Mark Wood has been ruled out of the remainder of the Ashes series after suffering a recurrence of the left-knee injury sustained in the first Test in Perth. The 35-year-old Durham pace bowler will return home for rehabilitation, dealing another blow to England who trail 2-0 in the five-match series. Surrey seamer Matthew Fisher has been called up as replacement, having been in Australia with the Lions squad. Fisher has played just one Test for England, against the West Indies in March 2022.
