Iran's missile targeted NATO territory for the first time
NATO air and missile defence systems in the eastern Mediterranean have destroyed a ballistic missile fired from Iran that was travelling through Iraqi and Syrian airspace towards Turkey. The Turkish Defence Ministry confirmed no casualties, with debris from the interceptor falling in the Dörtyol district of Hatay province. Turkey's foreign minister lodged a formal protest with Tehran and urged all parties to avoid further escalation. It marks the first time a NATO member's territory has been directly targeted by Iran since the conflict began.
