Iran warns it may target Bab al-Mandeb Strait in new threat

A senior adviser to Iran's supreme leader warned that Iran may target the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a key shipping route between Yemen and the Horn of Africa connecting the Red Sea to the Suez Canal. An estimated 10% of global trade passes through the Red Sea. The threat came as Iran-backed Houthi militants, who entered the war last week, operate from nearby Yemen.
