Iran has reportedly been invited to join the Makkah Defence Pact, a defence alliance formed by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey. The invitation could be a big move given Iran's rivalry with Riyadh and its ties to Yemen's Houthi movement. The invitation is unconfirmed by official channels but comes as regional countries seek security arrangements.
