Iran bans all food and agricultural exports as locals stockpile supplies

Iran imposed a nationwide ban on the export of all food and agricultural products effective 3 March 2026, as the country faces ongoing US and Israeli military strikes. The Iranian Export Confederation confirmed the ban to all customs authorities, with no timeline given for its removal. Earlier restrictions had already been placed on potatoes, tomatoes, dates and eggs. Iranians have been panic-buying rice, bread and canned food amid fears of prolonged shortages.
