India Canada sign $2.6B uranium deal, pledge $70B trade by 2030.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met in New Delhi on March 2, 2026, announcing a landmark $2.6 billion uranium supply agreement covering 2027–2035, delivered by Saskatoon-based Cameco Corp. The deal is part of more than ten commercial agreements totalling $5.5 billion. Both leaders pledged to finalise a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement by end-2026, targeting bilateral trade of $70 billion by 2030. The reset follows years of strained relations over the 2023 assassination of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
