UK homes need air con as temperatures hit 40C
Global heating could cause 10,000 extra heat-related deaths yearly, with 92% of UK homes overheating by 2050. A major report from the Climate Change Committee, published Wednesday, states the UK was "built for a climate that no longer exists". It recommends air conditioning for all care homes and hospitals within 10 years, and schools within 25.
