IBM buys HRL Laboratories for quantum computer research
IBM has completed its purchase of HRL Laboratories, adding expertise in areas like silicon-spin qubits and cryogenics to its quantum hardware work. HRL's skills complement IBM's existing superconducting quantum computing, helping research across hardware and manufacturing. Boeing and General Motors, the former owners, will continue their collaboration with IBM and HRL regarding quantum technology.
