Ian Huntley died from head injuries in prison attack

An inquest heard Soham murderer Ian Huntley died from a blunt head injury following an alleged prison assault. The 52-year-old was reportedly struck multiple times with a metal bar on 26 February at HMP Frankland in Durham. He passed away on 7 March 2026; 43-year-old Anthony Russell now faces a murder charge.
