Better protection for nesting places could help a bird whose numbers have fallen because many homes lose suitable spaces during building work. Researchers reported their findings on Friday after tracking breeding swifts in Devon across 15 years and measuring how often they came back. Among 190 birds studied, 94% used the same nesting place as the previous year.
