Britain’s oldest cattle breed now endangered
Farming heritage in Britain faces a fresh threat as one of its oldest cattle breeds has been moved into endangered status. On Tuesday, the Rare Breeds Survival Trust said white park cattle had been placed in its highest-risk “priority” category after calf births last year fell to less than two-thirds of 2022 levels. Numbers have now dropped below 1,000, prompting calls for stronger government support for native livestock.
