Startup uses human brain cells to run computers
Computing could become more energy efficient if living cells are used instead of standard chips. An Australian firm, Cortical Labs, has built a device called CL1 that combines lab-grown neurons with silicon hardware to run code and process signals. Around 120 units are already operating in a small Melbourne data centre, with plans for facilities in Singapore.
