Asylum seeker jailed 29 years for stabbing hotel worker
Deng Majek, an asylum seeker, was sentenced to a minimum of 29 years in prison for murdering hotel worker Rhiannon Whyte. In October 2024, Majek attacked Whyte at a Walsall train station, stabbing her 23 times with a screwdriver. The victim died from her injuries three days after the assault. The court handed down the sentence following the brutal incident, requiring Majek to serve nearly three decades before being considered for release.
