How many military bases does the US have in other countries?

The United States operates between 750 and 800 military bases across at least 80 countries, more than Britain, France, Russia and China combined, according to Pentagon data updated in December 2025. Japan hosts the most with 120 bases and over 53,000 troops, followed by Germany with 119 and South Korea with 73 including Camp Humphreys, the largest overseas base. The official annual cost is $22 billion, but independent researchers estimate the true figure exceeds $90 billion.
