Houthis restart Red Sea attacks, threatening global shipping again
Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have pledged to resume missile and drone attacks on Red Sea shipping routes and on Israel, following the US-Israel joint strikes on Iran. Two senior Houthi officials said the first attack could come as soon as Saturday night. The Houthis had previously halted shipping attacks under a deal with the Trump administration and paused strikes on Israel after the October 2025 Gaza ceasefire. The resumption threatens to reignite global shipping disruptions in one of the world’s busiest maritime corridors.
