Home Office rejects most Ukrainian asylum claims, citing safe zones.

A Ukrainian family from Kyiv has been refused asylum in the UK, with the Home Office telling them their teenage daughter — who has panic attacks — could use noise-cancelling headphones and soundproofed rooms to cope. The family is among several told that parts of Ukraine are safe, based on guidance from January 2025. Immigration lawyers say most Ukrainian asylum claims are now rejected, a sharp reversal from before April 2025. Around 310,000 Ukrainians have been welcomed to the UK under special visa schemes.
