Healey to Borrow Billions for Defence in Budget

Arlington National Cemetery / US Army, public domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Chancellor John Healey is expected to borrow billions to boost defence spending in Wednesday's Budget, The i Paper reports. An extra £20.4bn will go to the National Wealth Fund and British Business Bank, partly for defence firms, and he will plug a £4.7bn gap in the defence investment plan. But a firm commitment to spend 3% of GDP on defence is set to be delayed.
