Healey resigns: military spending 'falls short'
John Healey, the Defence Secretary, dramatically resigned, saying new military spending plans are inadequate and increase risk to armed forces. He accused Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the Chancellor of being unwilling to commit necessary resources, after seeing the new Defence Investment Plan on Monday. The proposed strategy would cause military expenditure to reach only 2.68% of the gross domestic product by 2030, thereby postponing crucial assistance until that date has passed.
