Jeff Bezos Returns to CEO Role With $6.2 Billion AI Startup Project Prometheus
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is returning to operational leadership as co-CEO of Project Prometheus, a secretive AI startup focused on engineering and manufacturing applications. The venture has secured $6.2 billion in funding, partly from Bezos himself, making it one of the most well-financed early-stage startups globally. Bezos will lead alongside physicist Vik Bajaj, former Google X executive and Verily co-founder. The company has recruited approximately 100 employees from OpenAI, DeepMind, and Meta, targeting AI systems for aerospace, automotive, and computing sectors.
