Harriet Harman warns of election if Burnham takes over

Should Andy Burnham assume the premiership from Keir Starmer, a new general election might ensue. Harriet Harman, who previously served as the Labour Party's deputy leader, made this assertion on Tuesday during the Hay literary festival. She proposed that Burnham might aim to secure his own mandate, particularly if he observes a significant upswing in public opinion surveys, or if Nigel Farage describes him as a "usurper."
