Greens Seize Lewisham and Lambeth from Labour

Labour lost control of Lewisham and Lambeth councils in the 2026 London local elections. The Green Party took outright control of Lewisham, ending Labour's dominance since 1971. In Lambeth, the Greens became the largest party, leaving the council under no overall control. Labour had held Lambeth since 2006 and Lewisham continuously since 1971.
