Government stops early prison release for those convicted of manslaughter
The ban also covers inmates jailed for indecent assault and causing a death by dangerous driving. The Prime Minister announced the policy following weeks of public anger about two men who killed police officer Andrew Harper possibly getting out of jail early. To clear cell space instead, Burnham said ministers will deport extra overseas criminals and free some people serving controversial indefinite sentences.
