Burnham to credit Macron as Channel boat crossings hit four-year low

Andy Burnham plans to thank French President Emmanuel Macron tomorrow for joint work that has stopped over 48,000 journeys. UK Border Force staff told him that putting more officers on beaches in France helped cut arrivals by about 43% against 2025 figures. Despite this drop, a recent Sky News poll revealed that 40% of the British public mistakenly think numbers have increased.
