Europe heatwave linked to 1,300 deaths, Germany hits 41.7C
Europe's extreme heatwave has been linked to about 1,300 deaths, with temperatures breaking records across the continent. Germany recorded its highest ever temperature of 41.7C, while France saw 40 heatwave-related drowning deaths. The World Meteorological Organization warned of "major impacts" to health and ecosystems, saying we need to get used to it.
