England lose 4-0 to Spain in shocking defeat
England endured a crushing 4-0 loss to Spain, their most significant defeat in 17 years, and this result means they will probably not qualify directly for the World Cup (Women's), 2027. The Lionesses only required a draw to secure their place, but they were instead thoroughly dominated in Majorca by the current world champions. Coach Sarina Wiegman stated the performance was "painful" and acknowledged her team's play on the night was simply not adequate.
