UAE pulls $3.5bn from Pakistan reserves
Pakistan’s finances face strain after a large share of reserves was withdrawn. The United Arab Emirates sought repayment of a US$3.5 billion deposit from Pakistan’s central bank days before Islamabad helped secure a ceasefire in the Iran war. Officials said the withdrawal equalled about 21% of reserves, while criticism also appeared on Emirati social media targeting Pakistan’s stance.
